Ghost

I hear lots of the kids visiting Kentwell say that we look like ghosts ... Last night returning after the pub for our keys, left accidentally, in the 'time lock' we felt a bit ghostly!

Alone at last!

In a rare moment of calm I find myself alone manning the limning station ... I think the first minute I've actually had to myself since we arrived on the manor. The only other quiet moment in each day ... And i think i was going to say here is ... sitting painting Tamsin in the house but it's now 7 odd hours, 60 visiting school kids, 2 interviews and a few drinks at the pub later ...!

1578 - Week 1, Day 1

One day back at the limning (thats miniature-painting to you) station under our belts, and a session of hothousing with our leader Aunt Kate has reminded us of what everything's called - from the smalt (blue) to the Brazil wood (gingery). Other activities undertaken on day one included dancing the Earl of Essex on the forecourt and a lengthy costume discussion with two visitors, thanks to the provocation of Mary's splendid slashed wool pin-on sleeves (mine are delayed at the 'tailor's). Hopefully a picture of those will follow....
No regrets about the hiring of the HD Varicam for 'much coin' as they say in 1578 - our cameraman gave us a brief glimpse of its richness on the monitor and it's as exquisite as those sleeves....

Lovely Photos ...

Dear Ann ...

I know I'll be seeing you at the end of this week but I couldn't resist sending you up a package of our photos from the Fete the other weekend as they have come out so beautifully. The repairs to the camera bellows seem to have worked a treat and the colour film you miraculously managed to procure from college has generated some marvellous results ... I'm delighted!

However, I must say our prop actually makes it jolly hard to recognise who's who ... can you see who this is in the wellington boots ... they are more or less all there is to go on?

See you very shortly, I hope your week of preparation for further travel isn't too stressful,

All love as ever,

Mary
